Leicester 0-3 Chelsea: Player ratings from a shocking performance
By Damon Carter
Yet again another slow start from a Leicester City side costs them against an imperious Chelsea outfit. The players struggled throughout, but the debate rages on as to whether this is a player problem or a management problem. Personally, it seemed like a lot of players were not putting in enough effort and the reasons why could be plenty.
Player Ratings: (Note: 7 indicates an acceptable player performance)
Leicester City’s Kasper Schmeichel – 4
The Dane is having a below-average season and today he struggled, Leicester City are currently the third most likely team to concede goals in the Premier League, and it shows. He made one decent save today in a game that probably should have ended around 6-0. Two things that we all noticed. Allowing Rudiger to stand on his toes and then win a backward header with his 4th header against the foxes since February last year. Secondly, his is slow and languid distribution continues. He has got to get off his line more, distribute better or his position might be up for grabs.
Timothy Castagne – 6
A difficult afternoon where Castagne was pinned back by the runs of Reece James. He made some good blocks but was still overrun by Chelsea’s wide play and was unable to attack and even uncharacteristically put passes wayward. Personally, he would have been more effective on the opposite flank.
