Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has given injury details as well as a return update for two Foxes players.

Leicester got that much-needed victory on Sunday afternoon versus Newcastle United, along with an elusive clean sheet. Yet the problems have not ceased for the east Midlands team for a few reasons.

Firstly there are some squad members with confirmed covid and illness. Seven, to he precise. And, really worryingly, vital centre-back Jonny Evans went off injured after only six minutes of the Newcastle clash.

However, there is also some good news as makeshift defender Dan Amartey is in contention to feature in the subsequent Leicester contest:

"“It’s unfortunate for Jonny [Evans]; it looks like he might be out for a period of time, but we’ll get that scanned tomorrow.”And on Amartey, the Northern Irishman said this:“We think Daniel Amartey should be back and available. He’ll train this week. He’s the one who should be available.”Via Leicester Mercury"

It sounds as though Evans will be unavailable for a while. Meanwhile the return of the Ghanaian is a big boost as Jannik Vestergaard is not available to deputise either.

An imposing set of fixtures for Leicester City

Scarily, up next for the King Power club is a daunting succession of Premier League outings. Of course the Everton clash surely offers up a massive chance to obtain three points, yet the rest of the matches pose a real obstacle.

First of all is Tottenham Hotspur, who are not on top form as of yet this campaign. Though Antonio Conte has already improved them, Spurs recently had games postponed as they also have a coronavirus outbreak amongst the roster. Next up are the beatable Toffees.

Following those couple of fixtures, the Foxes meet Liverpool then Manchester City, and then the Reds again. The two matches against the Merseysiders are in the Premier League and League Cup, a quarter-final no less. So Rodgers definitely has his work cut out.
