Fofana’s latest Leicester return date and contract negotiations update
Wesley Fofana’s latest Leicester City return date is later than many fans would have hoped. Meanwhile the Fox is in reportedly in contract negotiations with the east Midlands club.
Just like teammate James Justin, who is apparently primed for a return to first team action when he has featured for the Under23 side, Fofana is a long-term absentee defender through injury. And, again similarly to Justin, the young Frenchman along with his representatives are said to now be in talks over a new Foxes deal.
The King Power outfit are very astute in most of their crucial transfer dealings, which especially goes for admired, excellent talent who are with LCFC. Protecting Fofana from being poached by a Chelsea or Manchester City-type is absolutely paramount.
As you can see above on journalist John Percy’s tweet, it seems as though the wheels are in motion for the 20-year-old to be kept on Filbert Way. Sadly there is no way the Blue Army will see him back in action yet, because sadly Fofana won’t be fit until February, apparently.
Leicester City’s tricky run of festive fixtures
Following Thursday’s now postponed Tottenham Hotspur match and then meeting a currently terrible Everton team on Sunday, Leicester have a particularly daunting succession of matches to compete in. The run begins with Liverpool, who need no introduction whatsoever, in a League Cup quarter-final.
While the contest will be especially tough against the Reds, both clubs will almost certainly opt to use pretty much their reserve elevens. Although the XIs are usually peppered with a few senior starters here and there; for example Danny Ward should begin in goal for the away side at Anfield, his former home ground.
After the clash with Jurgen Klopp’s outfit, Leicester face the arguably even more difficult Premier League task of defeating Manchester City. Although that is something Brendan Rodgers has achieved before – remember the 5-2 victory at Etihad last season?
Subsequent to that game is a meeting with Liverpool again. On this occasion the encounter will be played in the English Top-Flight, and is likely to be a harder proposition than the Carabao Cup tie to come prior. Norwich City, Watford, Burnley and Brighton & Hove Albion ensure the Foxes have a less harsh stretch of outings thereafter.
