Leicester City defender Timothy Castagne had apologized to manager Brendan Rodgers for the sudden discomfort ruling him out before the game against Watford.

A late assessment by the club’s medical team had pulled out any anticipated possibility of incorporating the Belgium international into the centre-back role for the King Power Club. That had left Rodgers in a tight spot as he had to manage the third round of the FA Cup with only eight senior outfield players at his disposal.

The manager had to take a bold move and gamble with Hamza Choudhury partnering up alongside Jannik Vestergaard at the heart of the defense. The game, thankfully, went in Leicester City’s favor and gave them some breathing space amid this crisis. Due to this, the Foxes live another day to contest the next round of the FA Cup against Nottingham Forest in an enticing East Midlands derby.

Leicester City defender feels guilty of letting his side down

Timothy Castagne feels responsible for letting his team down at a sensitive time like this. The versatile Belgian has regularly been adored by the Blue army. He has always acted like a mature personality on several occasions. No wonder why his magnanimous nature feels responsible for this. The 26-year-old full-back has a dead leg which demands more treatment. It is doubtful if he can complete recovery before Saturday’s trip to Turf Moor.

"“Timothy Castagne, he’s messaging me and apologizing because he knows the team is suffering. These guys are doing everything they can to play. I’m waiting on more information from the medical team. He’s got a dead leg where normally with some treatment and some work on that, it goes away but the blood is still continuing to come into the area, which is making it difficult for him. He’s had blood drained out of his leg but it keeps coming back, which isn’t so good. I’m waiting to get clarity from our medical team. He was out on Friday trying to give it everything, but he was only at 65 percent really. He was doing everything he could, but he’s played a lot of games back to back, so that’s where that has come from.”– Brendan Rodgers, Leicester Mercury."

The latest news from the Leicester City camp is on the possible returns for both Caglar Soyuncu and Luke Thomas. Still, there is no word on Ricardo Pereira, Jonny Evans, Wesley Fofana nor Ryan Bertrand. It is a huge miss that the reliable asset of Daniel Amartey is at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Technically, James Justin is fit after venturing out to play his first game in 11 months for the Under-23s on Saturday. But as a cautionary measure, the club should stall his integration to avoid stress to the recovered injury.
