Expert makes claim about Leicester striker Jamie Vardy’s injury return date
Medical expert and sport data analyst Ben Dinnery had made a claim about Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy’s injury and expected return date.
Vardy is nursing a hamstring problem at the moment, and it has kept him out for a short while. With Kelechi Iheanacho away on duty with Nigeria at the African Cup of Nations, that leaves only Patson Daka as the only available centre-forward.
There was talk among some uninformed appearing journalists that the former England international should not have been playing versus Liverpool recently in case he aggravated an existing issue in the area.
Although, only Foxes manager Brendan Rodgers and his fitness staff know that information. It is also incredibly unlikely that they would ignore their own medical advice and risk an aging player. In addition, Vardy was not withdrawn when he felt a twinge because he insisted he was alright – as all committed athletes do.
However, it seems as though the 35-year-old may have sustained more severe damage than initially thought. Dinnery, who “runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in medicine and data analysis”, had this to say:
"“Given that timeline, we can see there is fairly significant damage there…“Surgery has been ruled out. The decision has been made to treat it conservatively, so while it’s a serious issue, six to eight weeks is realistic.“But these are the types of injuries where timelines can deviate.”Football Insider"
Essentially Vardy may face a lengthy recovery period; subsequently the Foxes medical team could suggest an elongated time away from competing.
Upcoming Leicester City fixture
There is not too much contemporary Leicester news to fill the Blue Army in on, as I usually do in this section of my Foxes of Leicester articles. However, as the Burnley match was annoyingly cancelled, we can briefly look ahead to the consequent next game for the east Midlanders.
A once again dangerous Tottenham Hotspur will be entertained at King Power Stadium on Wednesday, January 19. Antonio Conte clearly makes a difference at the helm for Spurs, yet they are not the relatively formidable outfit they were under Mauricio Pochettino.
Rodgers’ men can win this one; one certain boost is the fact that Son Heung-min will be sidelined for the meeting, according to reports. Though, as previously stated, Leicester’s options of main attackers are particularly thin at present.
