Leicester defender undergoes surgery and is out for up to nine weeks
While Leicester City had some significant injury updates on Tuesday, unfortunately Leicester City fullback Timothy Castagne has undergone surgery.
Since the long-term absence of Ricardo Pereira and the Portuguese consequently being unable to rediscover his formerly wonderful, pace-setting form for the Foxes, Castagne stepped up and did a great job on the left and right side. Belgium’s defender has not quite set the Premier League alight, although he is a solid performer for Leicester.
To be honest, and this is intended to be taken as a backhanded compliment to the former Atalanta man, I think he can do more for Leicester. What I mean is, along with his clear nous for the game and attacking threat, Castagne can start adding some numbers to his statistics.
Doing this would help the east Midlands team immeasurably, and may push Castagne toward the higher echelon of English top-flight fullbacks. With the imminent return of James Justin, balance is again hopefully added to the side; allowing the Belgian to flourish on his favoured right-side, as well as having less worries about his left-sided counterpart.
Though, sadly, that equipoise will not be installed yet or able to develop and prosper due to the current unavailability of Castagne, which shall be longer than initially anticipated.
Bad news for Leicester City
Brendan Rodgers informed media of Castagne’s troubles during his press conference for the Tottenham Hotspur fixture that should take place on Wednesday. I say should as the EPL seem open to any potential cancellations these days.
Alongside the negative information on the Fox, there was also a particularly positive announcement from the Northern Irishman which can be read by clicking the below link.
