Leicester 2-3 Tottenham – 3 things we learned: The future and the bad
By Will Kennedy
Recently, there has been a fair amount of speculation about Youri’s future at the club. Rodgers has spoken since the beginning of the season about a contract extension, but so far there has been nothing. This means, as things stand, Tielemans’ contract runs out in 18 months-time, meaning the Foxes are very likely to lose him for a cut-price fee in the summer. A contract extension wouldn’t necessarily increase the amount of time Youri stays at the club, but it certainly would up the fee that would be needed to lure him away from King Power.
If Youri were to leave in the summer, then this is the perfect time for Dewsbury-Hall to be stepping up and contributing consistent MotM performances. It is clear that he is the future of that Leicester midfield, a perfectly balanced box-to-box threat. Dennis Praet’s expiring loan could see him fill the void that Tielemans leaves – if is probably down to Youri’s form in recent seasons that Praet hasn’t had more of a chance in the squad.
Ndidi will still be at the club next season and Soumare will be further into his development, with Rodgers previously stating that he sees Soumare as someone who can contribute to the attack rather than being a deep defensive midfielder. This means that if Leicester were to lose Tielemans in the summer, that they have a lot of quality players who are ready to step up and make an impact. One thing is for sure, as things currently stand, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is the future of Leicester City, and he is utterly undroppable.
