Foxes of Leicester came across a recent intriguing quote from Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers, concerning the potential misuse of Under-23 players.

While going through some recent comments from Rodgers, in case we had missed anything, we discovered that we indeed had overlooked something. So here is our verdict.

Basically the LCFC manager was asked, a week or so ago, whether the club will use Under-23 players specifically in the Premier League. At the time, the amount of English top-flight fixtures being postponed was increasing.

Yet the former Liverpool gaffer made a particularly valid point with regard to protecting starlets and ensuring their futures are not damaged by rushing them into games. It was put to Rodgers that young stars could be disappointed if matches are cancelled in spite of their availability.

Whereas the Northern Irishman’s sensitive retort claimed that he didn’t want to ‘destroy burgeoning careers’ as not all athletes are ready for the ultimately testing EPL. Furthermore, he said that they will try players at the right time, such as the FA Cup.
