A Leicester City player is wanted for a transfer by two Premier League clubs. But it is absolutely clear that Hamza Choudhury won’t leave in January.

Reports claim that Premier League strugglers Watford and Newcastle United are eyeing up a move for the Foxes‘ trusted utility man, Choudhury. Though the story appears to be lazy journalism because Leicester are extremely unlikely to allow the Englishman to depart depart at this point.

Only on Monday, the Hornets sacked Leicester icon Claudio Ranieri and are looking at options to replace the Italian gentleman. Any changes like that can bring new players and the Hertfordshire club could well hold a legitimate interest in Choudhury.

Whereas Newcastle’s rating of the defensive midfielder is no secret; the Magpies have attempted to attract him on loan on a couple of occasions to no avail. Currently Choudhury is being utilised as a makeshift centre-back, and being consequently praised by LCFC manager Brendan Rodgers for his displays.

Daily Mail explains the situation, as their sources see it:

"Leicester are not looking to let anyone leave this window but Choudhury, who was close to joining Newcastle under former boss Steve Bruce, may have a decision to make once all the Foxes’ squad are fit and back from AFCON…With ten days of the window left, Leicester are braced for enquiries. They were willing to let him go last summer and recognise it could be difficult for him to return to the bench."

Rodgers said this on the matter: “I haven’t heard that [Choudhury to Newcastle], I don’t think we can afford to be losing anyone.”
