Leicester City have grown over the course of the last few years. Here is our take on the spending and signings of the King Power side over three seasons.

The Foxes have changed since the Claude Puel days, with large signings joining the squad and improving the side immensely. From the always popular Youri Tielemans to the less popular signing of Jannik Vestergaard.

Let’s explore the previous three seasons, starting with the 19/20 season, and breakdown who we signed, how much we paid, who left, how much we earned, therefore our net expenditure, and what ambitions we can see from those signings.

Leicester City’s senior side assembles

In 19/20, the King Power side were ambitious. After flirting with the upper mid-table, it was time to cement their place as a top side in the Premier League and to improve key aspects of the club before departures could harm the squad’s ability.

In this period, Youri Tielemans’ loan move was made permanent, Ayoze Perez joined the Foxes, Dennis Praet was signed, and James Justin was given a chance in the Premier League. This followed up on the previous season bringing in James Maddison, Caglar Soyuncu, Ricardo Pereira, and Jonny Evans.

By spending £93.87m, Leicester had finally assembled a winning senior squad and gained depth. However, the departures of Harry Maguire and Callum Elder amounted to £79.65m plus addons, so £14.22m only in net expenditure.

This being said, the club was also preparing to spend big on their Seagrave-based training centre, so there was quite a bit of spending to come. The level of investment was great and the impact was great. The side became challenges at the top.
