Leicester City has a significant job on their hands this summer. Out of the 28 first-team players, almost 50% have contracts that require attention in the next year.

Whilst Youri Tielemans’ protracted contract talks have grabbed the headlines, several other important stars also need new deals. One of these, Ricardo Pereira, is already in positive contract talks which will come as good news to the majority of Foxes fans.

Which Leicester City contracts should be extended by Summer 2022

Ademola Lookman: contract expiring summer 2022

Ademola Lookman has proved to be a success so far in his loan spell from RB Leipzig. Whilst he can still be criticised at times for his decision making and for going down too easily, his ball-carrying abilities under pressure have made him a popular addition. With there being a £15m option to buy in his loan deal, Leicester should sign him up as long as he continues to play well for the rest of the season.

Eldin Jakupovic: contract expiring summer 2022

Jakupovic remains a popular figure within the squad and also a good mentor and backup. He is unlikely to play much due to the presence of Kasper Schmeichel and Danny Ward but it makes sense to offer him another year, as it will allow Iversen to develop. Also, Jakupovic is unlikely to demand to play which makes him an ideal candidate for a third-choice goalkeeper.
