Brendan Rodgers’ Europa Conference League problem
Brendan Rodgers had a tough call to make at Leicester City. Which Foxes player was probably omitted from the Europa Conference League squad?
Essentially, Rodgers’ quandary in the European competition – one which he claimed to know nothing about – is that he was obliged to omit one player from the upcoming Conference League. And it was inevitably one man he wanted to be available to choose.
Awkwardly for the Northern Irishman at the helm of Leicester, his fellow countryman Jonny Evans is possibly the man Rodgers had to drop. Evans is injured with a hamstring issue and will potentially be unavailable until April. The Athletic report that the former Manchester United defender underwent surgery.
Although, Foxes of Leicester believes Evans will perhaps be required if the King Power club plan on making a good go of the tournament. That would certainly help alleviate some fans’ concerns and sadness this season. In fact, should the Foxes do this well, the veteran centre-back could be fit for selection for the ECL semi-final.
Unfortunate left-back and disappointing signing, Ryan Bertrand, is FoL’s choice to be omitted. While Bertrand is a talented player, his and his teammate Jannik Vestergaard’s introduction has been a relative disaster on Filbert Way.
Southampton’s one-time fullback is a talented player, he’s just exhibited almost none of his skills for LCFC. And after an operation on his knee, Bertrand feels like the ideal person for exclusion from the squad in Europe; there is also plenty of cover in his position. A collective was submitted on February 2, but is yet to be revealed.
How Leicester City’s Europa Conference League roster will likely look
