Leicester City fans will be pleased to hear the latest injury news, as there is now a timeline and a potential return date for Wesley Fofana.

According to Foxes manager Brendan Rodgers, the squad is starting to become a lot more healthier on the whole. There are still three long-term absentees by Foxes of Leicester’s count: Jamie Vardy, Jonny Evans and Ricardo Pereira. Yet another with an issue is set return.

Fofana sustained a broken leg and ligament damage from a ridiculously poor and misjudged ‘tackle’ from Fer Nino of Valencia. The appalling challenge actually occurred in a friendly match at King Power Stadium in preseason ahead of this 2021/22 campaign.

Before the new year, the Frenchman teased a tantalisingly cryptic comeback in 2021 from his social media accounts. Yet that happy occasion never materialised. However, the Blue Army may allow themselves to get excited with less of a chance of anticlimax, as the gaffer has spoken clearly on the matter.

Rodgers revealed that one of his most important defenders, in FoL’s view, will be back in full training from February 14. Furthermore, the Northern Irishman suggested the France Under-21 star will perhaps be available for selection later in the month.

Matches subsequent to that date include a double header versus Randers in the Europa Conference League. Along with a clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League.

Like James Justin, who recently regained fitness, Fofana will not be rushed into the side as a precaution. Expect a few substitute appearances from the former Saint-Etienne man.

Other comments from the Leicester City boss

In addition to the updates on injuries, the ex-Liverpool gaffer also talked about the quiet January transfer window. Once again he explained how LCFC is not able to spend similar funds to larger Premier League outfits.

Although, Rodgers reiterated lofty ambitions with the east Midlands club, and that he is not in Leicestershire just to ‘go through the motions’. Adding a separate aim of improving the personnel already at his disposal; which is decent spin.
