Leicester injuries: Vardy and Evans return dates
Brendan Rodgers has given a press conference in which he detailed injuries for Leicester City players such as veterans Jamie Vardy and Jonny Evans.
Along with Kasper Schmeichel, Vardy and Evans are now the elder statesmen of the team. And that certainly applies to the starting eleven. While the Foxes appear to have managed without the latter pair, in reality having either or both fit before this summer could be the spark which saves the season.
Patson Daka and Kelechi Iheanacho may well be the future of the Leicester side, though deploying the Englishman would surely improve any outfit on the planet. We all know that Manchester United should have kept the Northern Ireland International – high praise.
Clearly senior centre-backs Jannik Vestergaard and Caglar Soyuncu are struggling to perform acceptably without Evans, if at all. Thankfully Rodgers has revealed that the squad needs freshening up in the subsequent transfer window. The club will acquire new targets and rid themselves of deadwood, ideally.
This is what the manager said with regards to the duo’s current status:
"“The players are there to support but it doesn’t always win you games. They can give out little bits of advice. Both of them are a few weeks away. Jamie is four, Jonny maybe six.”Leicester Mercury"
By that schedule, the ex-England striker will perhaps be ready to feature by the time Leicester play Leeds United on March 5. Meanwhile his teammate might be back by the 19th of the same month when the Foxes meet Brentford.
Although, naturally the timeline could alter slightly or drastically before the mentioned dates. It is unlikely either will be rushed, especially as older athletes.
Leicester City gaffer speaks ahead of FA Cup derby tie
During the press conference, Rodgers also spoke about the upcoming contest against Nottingham Forest. According to the man formerly at Liverpool’s helm, he is relishing the occasion of another derby.
Furthermore the 48-year-old asserts, as title holders in the competition, that the east Midlands club must “attack” the match. In addition, he proclaims that his men will fight to lift the trophy once again.
