Will Leicester City permanently sign Ademola Lookman?
By Will Kennedy
In a disheartening season for Leicester City, one new face has shown some much-needed excitement and flair with the ball, as well as providing the moment of the season so far: Ademola Lookman. Brought in on deadline day in the summer, Lookman’s signature was met with trepidation from many Foxes fans, but has soon grown to be a favourite among supporters for his dynamism on the ball.
Signed on loan from parent club RB Leipzig, the 24-year-old has become a mainstay in the starting 11 for Brendan Rodgers, and has flourished under the tenure of the Norther Irishman. Lookman’s career has been filled with promise – a goal-scoring debut for Everton, a fantastic loan spell with RB Leipzig, and some crucial goals for Fulham – but he has failed to find consistency ever since his breakout at Charlton in 2016. In fact, for a man who has played at 5 clubs, he hasn’t once reached 50 appearances for any of them.
So far this season, Lookman has made 21 appearances for the Foxes, scoring in 5 – three of which have come in the Premier League – and assisting 3, averaging a direct goal contribution in every 3 games for City. Whilst this tally isn’t mouth-watering, Lookman has already scored more goals for LCFC than he did at Fulham (4) and at Everton (4) as well as equalling his tally at Leipzig (5).
