Rodgers’ warning as he threatens Leicester players
Following the indescribably bad loss to Nottingham Forest, Brendan Rodgers sent a clear threat to his Leicester City squad.
Naturally the Foxes boss was not pleased with the performance of his side in the derby defeat. Who would be? Though some Leicester fans are now calling for his sacking for continous instability and visibly poorly devised tactics.
So, what did the manager say after the 4-1 thumping about stars being axed if they don’t start performing?:
"“I said it before about having changes in the squad [incoming and outgoing summer transfers]. It’s a lack of hunger. That’s why a lot of these players are not top players. Because they can’t sustain it…“When you stop getting it [applying yourself], you can’t quite get there, your time could be up [at LCFC]. There are a lot of these players, between now and the end of the season, who need to prove that they are still worthy of being here.”Brendan Rodgers, The Guardian"
Will it actually be Brendan Rodgers who leaves Leicester City?
Results improving will always assist whoever is at the helm of a club in remaining there. However, Leicester seem to be creeping into toxic territory with regard to the modern roster.
Now, this is an assertion, I am not positive that there is a problem among the collective but we can assess what we do know. Constant rule breaking has occurred under Rodgers’ watch, from COVID-enforced lockdown parties to turning up late for training. And possibly for other engagements.
Going to casinos at ill-advised times is another we saw a while back. Along with most recently, regrettably, apparently drinking into the night after losing to a lesser division rival 4-1. Well, into the morning to be precise – 5am we hear.
Foxes of Leicester won’t name and shame the supposed culprits who are allowed a life outside of the game, for obvious reasons. Although, this behaviour after a loss with these implications and just a few days before playing Liverpool at Anfield is shocking. It also makes supporters think the athletes in question do not care about LCFC.
To be fair, all outfits have a certain amount of those types of incidents; managers generally appear in control and consequently reprimand personnel. There just feels like an air of entitlement within the Leicester squad; which is fairly young on average – certainly immature. With a worry it may harm their chances in Leicestershire or careers elsewhere. Meanwhile they may also cause the demise of the Northern Irishman on Filbert Way.
