Quality Leicester loanee suffers fracture in foot jeopardising season
Leicester City loanee Dennis Praet has suffered a major injury blow out on loan. The injury risks his season and transfer. Here is what you need to know.
Despite an uptick in form and supporters truly being impressed, the Belgian attacking midfielder was sent out on loan with an option to buy to Serie A side Torino. Though the player has not lit the world on fire, he has continued his decent form and performed well enough to justify his price tag.
However, that has been put in quite some jeopardy. Such a complication could cost Praet a lot more than just a season of football, it could cost him a move to a side which will play him a fair amount for his quality.
Leicester City transfer risked
According to SportWitness, Dennis Praet has suffered a fracture in his foot while out on loan with Torino. The severity of the fracture is not yet known, but is certainly worrisome. The player deserves to be playing often and is really not feeling that right now.
From Brendan Rodgers’ strange dislike of the Belgian international, to now an injury which could end the rest of his season, luck is certainly not on Praet’s side. Nevertheless, we King Power supporters do know his quality, so hopefully he’ll be back playing soon.
This injury does more than risk the rest of his season though. Torino have an option to buy, and that sale is likely a part of a wider plan to refresh the Leicester City squad in the summer transfer window.
If Torino decide not to sign the midfielder because of this injury, it could have a major knock on effect to who the Foxes can sign to join Rodgers’ team. Now, I for one would be happy to see the Belgian back in blue and white, but that has only just gone from fancy to a possibility now.
There is currently no return date set for the player and no clear picture as to the severity of the injury, here is hoping it is not too severe for his sake.
Myself and Foxes of Leicester would like to wish Dennis Praet a speedy recovery so he can get back to what he loves and so he can get that move which guarantees him more playtime and a manager who appreciates his quality.
