Former Manchester City defender and Sky Sports pundit Micah Richards has criticised the so-called ‘disrespectful’ Youri Tielemans over a Leicester City statement.

If you don’t admire Richards as a pundit or find him entertaining, then to be frank I wonder who you do like. He is an affable, interesting and humorous football expert. Not to mention being an exemplary professional.

That being said, the combination of him and Roy Keane’s disparate personas heighten the viewing pleasure even more. The former Aston Villa man delivers the likeable ‘fallguy’ routine to the one-time Manchester United man’s misanthropic humour perfectly. Their own show beckons.

Micah Richards criticises Leicester City’s starman – was the ex-Manchester City man correct?

But why is Richards in the Leicester-related news sphere for telling Tielemans off, you ask? Well, allow me to inform you. Basically the retired England international was not too impressed by comments made by the Belgium star a while back. The statement was in relation to Tielemans’ future and, obviously, LCFC directly.

The Birmingham-born defender said he was annoyed by the Fox’s ambiguously offered answer about where he may be playing football soon. Back in September, Tielemans essentially said that he may remain in Leicestershire, and he could also undertake a transfer. The former used the term ‘disrespectful’ to describe the 24-year-old.

I must say, I agree with Richards here: at the time Tielemans made the declaration, I so wanted him to stay on Filbert Way. I feel that my clarity was blinded to the unnecessary yet candid quote.

"Tielemans:“I’m not saying I’m going to sign (a new contract), but I’m not saying I’m not going to sign,” before adding he was “open to everything [including a move, presumably]”.Richards:“The interview he [Tielemans] gave, last September, talking about whether or not he’s signing a new contract or if he’s leaving. I thought it was disrespectful.“Leicester gave him the platform that he is on now. He has elevated his game. Yes, there is going to be interest from the top clubs because he is a top player.“But I just thought he unsettled the camp a little bit. And they needed him. He has six goals this season. But he hasn’t gone to the levels of last season.”Leicester Mercury"
