Leicester City were without Harvey Barnes for the Wolverhampton Wanderers fixture. Here is what you need to know and when Barnes might be back.

Brendan Rodgers loves the English winger. It was the Northern Irishman who gave the academy graduate his chance in the senior first team, ahead of the likes of Fousseni Diabaté and Bartosz Kapustka who were sold. A most wise decision.

Goals, assists, and progressive intent. Barnes inflicts fear in the opposition defenders as the creative talent uses his pace and energy to burst past defensive lines and create openings for attack.

That is why when the Foxes are without, the team tends to fair worse. Luckily, in our current season, Ademola Lookman has done a perfectly fine job taking on the role, as well as bringing better ball retention to the side.

Leicester City won’t wait long

As reported by LeicestershireLive, we know that Rodgers wanted to play Barnes, but that the player felt a stiffness in his hamstring. After a lengthy time out with injury prior, the gaffer chose not to risk the fitness of the player to face Wolves,

Lookman and Marc Albrighton were instead chosen to lead the wings, and performed excellently throughout the match. Such is a testament to the squad depth that is being built at Leicester, now we just need a better first team to develop more.

However, the decision to rest the future England international was only precautionary. There was no direct threat to Barnes’ fitness, and we can expect to see the player again for the reverse fixture against Randers FC in the UEFA European Conference League.
