Randers v Leicester: boss reveals XI as it won’t make difference
Before the Europa Conference League game between Randers and Leicester City, the Horses boss revealed his starting XI as it apparently ‘won’t make a difference’ to the outcome.
Holding a 4-1 lead in any second leg, even when subsequently travelling abroad, should be enough to see any team through to the next round of any competition. Though complacency is also an undesirable factor within a side; therefore Foxes manager Brendan Rodgers must still field a fairly strong eleven.
However, an interesting and rather unorthodox step has been taken by Randers before the UECL clash with LCFC on Thursday evening at Cepheus Park. Basically, as detailed by the entertaining Archie Rhind-Tutt of BT Sport’s football coverage, Horses manager Thomas Thomasberg – wow, how creative – actually informed the reporter of his starting eleven for the European contest.
Now, it is obviously a rather inessential and dangerous practice for a boss to divulge his line-up, in football at least. Yet Thomasberg claimed that the revelation, which Rodgers can surely benefit from, wouldn’t make a difference to the result.
The former also suggested this was the first time that he had let an XI be known ahead of kick-off in his three-year reign with the Danes. Stephen Odey is the only professed change.
