Burnley vs Leicester: Expected Foxes XI, TV, streaming
Leicester City travel to Turf Moor for a face-off with Premier League relegation rivals Burnley. Here is our expected starting XI and how to watch.
The King Power side lay 13th in the league table heading into their fixture with the tough home side. Brendan Rodgers’ team are in a slump and need to get out of it.
To further illustrate this lamentable condition, the Foxes‘ non-penalty expected goals versus expected goals against stands at -6.24 according to Understat. This means we are not just 13th in the table, but 13th in xG. It is not a good look to concede significantly more than we create.
However, the situation is not quite as bleak as many would have you believe. Looking at how many games we have in-hand on Crystal Palace (only three points ahead) and Newcastle United (two points behind) we can see that just a couple of those becoming wins, we climb the table and can challenge for European football.
That makes this next match even more important. Losing to teams below us will only cement the malaise in the side and further the knock in confidence. With the slow oncoming return of Jamie Vardy, Ricardo Pereira back to fitness, Wesley Fofana and Timothy Castange on the horizon, and James Justin working his way back, starting a winning streak would be beneficial indeed.
Expected Leicester City starting XI
With the news of Jamie Vardy and Ricardo Pereira being fit and available for this fixture, I think the senior side which will be entrusted the task of defeating Burnley is not easily mistaken. It will be a first team, though I expect Vardy to be on the bench to begin with.
Kasper Schmeichel (GK), Luke Thomas (LB), Caglar Soyuncu (CB), Daniel Amartey (CB), Pereira (RB), Wilfred Ndidi (DM), Youri Tielemans (CM), James Maddison (AM), Harvey Barnes (LW), Ademola Lookman (RW), and Patson Daka (ST).
On the bench, Vardy and Kelechi Iheanacho are likely to be brought on later in the match, with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall almost certainly brought on for the Belgian Starman in a bid to energise the side later in the fixture.
I would personally like to see the Northern Irish gaffer try Barnes on the right-wing and Lookman on the left (where he scores most from) to change things up and provide Thomas better defensive support on that flank.
How to follow
Unfortunately, English TV will not be broadcasting the fixture, though BBC Radio 5 and LCFC TV will be available for live coverage minus video. I have no idea why they could not fit this match into the TV schedule, but alas, there are other ways.
If you have access to American channel Peacock through any which method of subscription services, then they will be streaming the match. Once more though, they are the only US provider showing the fixture.
