Brendan Rodgers has rebuffed Leicester City’s chances of being drawn into a relegation battle.

The 49-year-old has had his most difficult season since joining the Foxes in 2019. Leicester currently sit 13th on the table with just the seven wins from their 23 games this season. However, Rodgers is instead focusing on moving LCFC up the table rather than drawing any interest from what is happening below them.

"“Respectfully, we try to look forward. We’ve played three to four games less than other teams. We have to win games to look up the table. That’s our only notion.”Brendan Rodgers"

The Leicester City boss now faces the task of turning this poor season around, whilst also building towards next season. The Foxes have shown signs of promise in 2022, however they have struggled to put in consistent performances to make an impression in the Premier League.

Rodgers has highlighted the final 15 games of the season as a chance for Leicester City to correct this issue and believes that there could be a positive conclusion to the season.

"“It’s trying to find consistency. We have been unable to sustain the good performances. It’s about finding the rhythm in our game. It’s about creating opportunities and scoring goals. The Randers game, we had the job done early but then it was difficult because of the pitch. But the performance level has been improving. It could be a really good end to the season for us.”Brendan Rodgers"

The East Midlands side face Burnley in their next game at Turf Moor, which is never an easy three points. A win against Sean Dyche’s men would move LCFC 9 points clear of relegation with a game in hand.

Leicester will be also boosted by the imminent return of Jamie Vardy, who is set to play his first game in over 2 months, with his last game coming in 1-0 win over Liverpool in December. That game also happens to be the last time the Foxes won a game in the league, with Leicester City struggling to put in a full 90-minute performance since.

Two notable occasions of this occurrence were at home to Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United where Leicester seemed on track to claim all three points in both games, but came away with just one out of a possible six.

While the East Midlands side have been struggling for form in the Premier League, the Blue Army have had some reason to remain positive, as LCFC comfortably progressed through to the round of 16 in the UEFA Conference League after defeating Randers 7-2 on aggregate.

With Rodgers’ side dwindling in the league and showing no signs of making a late charge for the remaining European spots. Clearly the Conference League is the only likely possible route for Leicester to qualify for Europe next season, with the winner earning direct entry into the Europa League.
