Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers has tipped Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall for the future captaincy. Here is what you need to know and our opinion on KDH.

Steve Walsh, Wes Morgan, and Kasper Schmeichel. Three titans of the King Power side, two are now history, and one current. All three have held the captaincy of the Foxes. These are massive names.

Of course, there have been many more captains, but no one else have been quite so dedicated, and personally impressive as these three, at least not in my opinion. So, to even be spoken as being the heir to that heritage is quite the remarkable achievement.

Is this Leicester City’s next captain?

According to Rodgers, the fan-favourite midfielder ‘KDH’ has the potential to become a future captain for the East Midlands club. This is what he said, as per the Athletic:

“He loves the club and he wants to fight for the club… I think at some point he will be a skipper here, a captain in the future. He leads and inspires”

Our Dewsbury-Hall is a real fighter. Just last season the Englishman was on loan at Luton Town, regularly featuring in the Championship team of the week. Now, the player is starting to cement his role at the King Power.

From loanee to trustee of our midfield, KDH is now an integral part of our future, just as Harvey Barnes and Luke Thomas who have come into the squad just before him. These academy products love this club and are fighting hard for their role and place.

The Northern Irish gaffer is right, when Dewsbury-Hall steps onto that pitch, he excites the fans, he makes risky plays, he puts in those crucial challenges, he brings with him a breath of fresh air unlike many players.

This energy, desire, and ferocity in play is but one of the myriad reasons why KDH is a future Leicester City captain. The question is not if, but more so when. Say, Schmeichel were to leave tomorrow, would you throw KDH into the fire?

My answer is simple: yes. For me, it is either Wesley Fofana or the English midfielder who should take the captaincy/vice-captaincy. It is time for the next generation of Foxes to lead, inspire, excite, and create new memories for supporters.
