Is injured Leicester star James Maddison fit for Rennes UECL game?
Leicester City managed to defeat Leeds United without him, but is injured playmaker James Maddison fit for the UEFA Europa Conference League contest with Rennes?
Brendan Rodgers will face an upcoming Foxes conundrum very soon; possibly on Thursday when Leicester take on Rennes. This season the French side has won plaudits for their style and entertaining. Les Rouge et Noir (the Red and Blacks) are currently fourth in Ligue 1.
As you will know, this campaign has been inconsistently mixed for the Northern Irishman and his team. Presently placing 12th in the Premier League is borderline unacceptable for this evolving LCFC outfit. Though signs of improvement are materialising.
A top half finish is something much of the Blue Army take for granted these days. However, the elder Foxes amongst us are more realistic about endeavours. Injuries have clearly hindered progress, too.
Yet Rodgers’ soon-to-be issue, as previously mentioned, is actually a ‘good problem’: too many talented players for one role, or system. In fact, Maddison’s recent injury and less-than-90-minute return offered ‘BR’ a repreive from making a difficult decision: whether to leave out Youri Tielemans, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, or the No.10.
I am aware that ‘Madders” role can be adjusted to be more attacking, or as a narrow winger in certain formations. Nevertheless, it is likely that Rodgers is considering this actual scenario. Hopefully Maddison is back and in the starting eleven for the UECL clash.
"Rodgers on Maddison:“Hopefully he’ll (Maddison) be ok for Thursday, just too big of a risk today (Leeds United).”Leicester Mercury"
Truly wonderful gesture at Leicester City and beyond
If you have been watching the atrocious scenes emerging from Ukraine following the bombardment of their towns and cities, you will be as dismayed as the rest of civilisation.
One aspect that occurred to me is where all the refugees will go; thankfully even English football is assisting in salvation. You see, according to former footballer Andriy Shevchenko, EPL clubs will accept ‘Ukrainian youngsters’ to train at academies. More information on this development will follow soon.
