Arsenal v Leicester: Two stars in contention while other ruled out
Two less than fully fit Leicester City stars are in contention to play versus Arsenal. Meanwhile another player has been ruled out by Foxes manager Brendan Rodgers.
Arsenal away felt almost insurmountable for Leicester for many years. Even the recent challenging incarnation of LCFC occasionally finds it tough at the Emirates Stadium. However, the most recent meetings there saw the East Midlands outfit draw and then win.
This information informs us of an almost undoubtedly well-matched contest. Both sides seem particularly confident of late, while appearing to enjoy football and in a good run of form. The pair of them will be looking forward to clashing.
One element which would have boosted the King Power club endlessly was the reintroduction of Wesley Fofana to the Leicester team. Sadly the Frenchman didn’t get minutes in the Europa Conference League victory over Rennes on Thursday due to contracting the coronavirus. Fofana is also also doubt for Sunday’s Premier League match:
"“He’s (Fofana’s) fine, he is getting physical work in and we’ll take it from there. (Rennes) will be the first game he’s available for.”“We’ll have another check on Ricardo (Pereira); (James) Justin played 60 minutes so we’ll check on him.”– Brendan RodgersLeicester Mercury"
Arsenal injury news ahead of Leicester City clash in Premier League
Mikel Arteta is doing a fine job; personally I was not convinced, following the inexplicable praise merely for assisting the great Pep Guardiola. Yet, we must all now admit that the former is seemingly astute enough to lead the Gunners back into the top four, at least. Arteta was definitely an elegant and intelligent midfielder, so if that translates – we’re in trouble as a rival.
Prior to the clash in North London, Foxes of Leicester assembled a list of all significant Arsenal injuries. Right-back Takehiro Tomiyasu remains a doubt and will be assessed before the fixture; meanwhile, Emile (Smith Rowe) is apparently likely to be unavailable; lastly Alexandre Lacazette is presumed ready. So, typically, nothing conclusive there from the Spaniard; which is astute, in my opinion.
