Leicester City’s head of medicine will be leaving in the summer to revamp the club’s medical department as a part of the forthcoming rebuild. Doctor Bryan English arrived from Middlesborough in the summer of 2020 to replace long-term serving head physio in Dave Rennie, who had left the club.

Back then, the idea of a proposed restructuring of the medical department was in immediate effect, as manager Brendan Rodgers emphasized the need for a medical supervisor to oversee things. It was critical as the team took a step to begin utilizing the Segrave training facility.

"“Our idea was to revamp the medical team and we’re looking to bring in a head of medicine to oversee the medical side ahead of that transition to a new training ground.” – Brendan Rodgers in September 2020."

Dr. English’s two-year contract will run out its course after two years. As we understand it, there is no interest in renewal. Rodgers knew English from his spell as a Chelsea manager. The doctor was then the active medical director at Stamford Bridge. The newly created head of medicine role, started by English at LCFC, will be vacant soon.

Leicester City is tinkering with key positions at the club

The Athletic has confirmed that this departure is not to be confused as an upcoming reshuffle of the medical department. Neither is the alteration a ‘measure’ emerging from the injury crisis at the club during English’s stint.

Though to improve several areas, the club is now looking to appoint a new full-time club doctor for the injury crisis faced by the outfit in this ongoing campaign. Following this information, Leicester City has reportedly included Ed Richmond as a first-team physiotherapist in the last month. His LinkedIn profile mentions a previous role at fellow Premier League side, Crystal Palace.

Additionally, the King Power club is also looking to appoint a new head of recruitment after the departure of Lee Congerton to Serie A club Atalanta for a senior role. Congerton was the man behind many influential signings for the Foxes, and it would need an excellent person to fill his shoes at the outfit.
