Photographs from the unveiling of Khun Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha statue at Leicester City’s King Power Stadium have been published.

On Monday the “Leicester City family” converged on Filbert Way for the inauguration of the late Khun Vichai’s “eternal tribute”. Leicester’s official website, lcfc.com, labels the Thai businessman as the most influential person in the Foxes‘ long history. An indisputable fact.

The Lord-Lieutenant of Leicestershire, Mike Kapur, attended the ceremony, along with Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand, Mr Pisanu Suvanajata; Vice Lord-Lieutenant, Colonel Murray Colville; Lord Mayor of Leicester, Councillor Deepak Bajaj; High Sheriff, Mehmooda Duke. In addition to City Mayor, Sir Peter Soulsby; Dean of Leicester, The Very Reverend David Monteith, and Bishop of Leicester, The Right Revd Martyn Snow.

According to Jordan Blackwell of Leicester Mercury, former managers were in attendance: Claudio Ranieri, Nigel Pearson as well as Craig Shakespeare. Not to mention the presence of ex-LCFC stars Wes Morgan, Robert Huth, Christian Fuchs, Danny Simpson, Matty James and Andy King. Naturally current manager Brendan Rodgers and contemporary first team members joined in as the sculpture was unveiled. Along with staff members of the club.

Directly above you can see photographs of the occasion and statue. What a lovely testimonial to the great man it is. The area is open for the public to visit from Tuesday.

A crucial Leicester City game which is sure to a memorable occasion

Attention now switches away from Premier League action and towards Europa Conference League action. On Thursday the Foxes meet Dutch side PSV Eindhoven in a UECL quarter-final first leg contest. Incidentally, this will be the initial time that the majority of the Blue Army will witnesses Khun Vichai’s tribute in person, following Monday’s presentation.

PSV are no pushovers whatsoever, which some other opponents in the competition could be accused of. Even though Leicester have not had an easy European campaign – being relegated from the Europa League – and have the second team in Eredivisie to compete with, the East Midlanders will still be confident. Winger Marc Albrighton believes he and his teammates can win the tournament. You can watch the big match at 8pm BST.
