Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers criticises unfair refereeing following a clear and obvious error versus Manchester United.  Partly due to video assistant referee mistakes along with generally incorrect officiating. While the Northern Irishman also compared fellow countryman Jonny Evans to a legendary defensive player.

If ever there were a man who could accuse a person or association of ineptitude, errors, or shortcomings and do it so indirectly as if almost cryptically respectful, it is Rodgers. Unfortunately this time subtly was not called for – a sledgehammer-like accusatory tone was. For once.

Scott McTominay’s irrational and red card-worthy foul on Foxes star James Maddison is what I refer to. United’s towering midfield chopper only received a yellow card for the massively excessive, ill-advised ‘challenge’.

The entire Leicester fan base feel aggrieved from the almost blatantly inequitable treatment from referees and video assistant referees alike during the campaign. In fact, Foxes of Leicester have compiled a list of all the occasions that the King Power side have apparently been mistreated by VAR in 2021/22.

Meanwhile, Rodgers delicately accused officiating of hypocrisy with regard to the so-called bigger clubs:

"“We had a similar situation at West Ham earlier in the season when Ayoze Perez took a heavy touch and then caught his opponent.“He got a red card. Scott was heavily committed in his challenge after a heavy touch it could easily have been the same decision.”Daily Mail"

Leicester City veteran defender Jonny Evans likened to icon

Rodgers believes his old guard centre-back, Evans, is able to emulate the great Thiago Silva. That is if the Fox can maintain his fitness; injuries have been a problem over the last couple of seasons for the 34-year-old.

And, extremely encouragingly for the Blue Army, the ex-Liverpool boss asserts that his player can go on for years to come. Brazilian footballing legend Thiago is now age-37 and still thrives overall at Chelsea.

It was even claimed last week that Man United officials confided to the LCFC gaffer that allowing the former Red Devil to leave was a regrettable mistake. The East Midlands team actually acquired the Northern Ireland international from West Bromwich Albion for a ridiculously low fee of £3.5million. This transpired after the Baggies were relegated and a contract clause was activated. Particularly wise work from the cunning Foxes!
