If one thing were to define Leicester City’s success in the last 10 years, it would be their incredible record in the transfer market. With an excellent scouting and recruitment system, Leicester have been able to complete some of the best signings in Premier League.

Signing Jamie Vardy for £1m looked like a gamble, but he has become – arguably – the Foxes’ greatest player of all time. Riyad Mahrez’s £600K transfer is still jaw-dropping considering the level he has been at for the last seven years; making a £60m profit on him was also a bonus. Add to that the recruitment of Schmeichel, Kante, Ndidi, Evans, and Tielemans, and you have a recipe for success.

On the other side of the coin, Leicester have grown a reputation for becoming one of the hardest clubs to buy from. Since their release-clause oversight led to Kante’s exit in 2016, Leicester have refused to include release clauses in any contracts, as well as demanding a high price for their stars.

Whilst they have frequently sold one big name each summer, those moves have helped fund the money for incomers, as well as improved contracts for their current squad. Today, Foxes of Leicester will be looking at the three biggest transfer swindles in Leicester City’s history, how the moves affected the squad, and where those players are now.
