Leicester vs Palace: preview and expected rotated XI
Leicester City play Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon. This is Foxes of Leicester’s preview and expected, altered Leicester XI.
I was discussing the modern era of Foxes versus Eagles recently, and was under the impression that Leicester always struggle these days. Or, that the South London side are a bogey team for the Leicestershire club. And from December 2017 until February 2019 – they were. In fact, over four English top-flight matches between the pair over that period, Palace won every meeting. Shockingly, the aggregate score over the time was 13-1 to Londoners. Wow.
Yet, under Brendan Rodgers, that undesirable record that the East Midlanders found themselves with was destroyed and replaced by a far more positive one. From November ’19 to the contemporary, Leicester have won three and drawn two with Palace. All of those games took place in the EPL. So, the Blue Army can be comfortable feeling increasingly confident for the upcoming clash.
Something else which bodes well for the King Power outfit is that a trio of missing personnel should return to the matchday squad. Ayoze Perez, Caglar Soyuncu and Boubakary Soumare all missed the Europa Conference League first leg contest with PSV Eindhoven on Thursday evening. Incidentally, that tie ended 0-0; perfectly poised for a decider in the coming week.
Expected Leicester City lineup
Predicting a starting eleven is not as simple as examining the statistics and results. Although, Rodgers gave a telling hint about likely rotating his four defenders from the previous match. The Northern Irishman arrived at this decision due to the hectic April schedule. While finishing as high as possible in the league remains important, the UECL is the main focal point at present.
Foxes of Leicester’s predicted lineup is as follows:
Kasper Schmeichel; Luke Thomas, Daniel Amartey, Caglar Soyuncu, James Justin; Papy Mendy; Boubakary Soumare, Youri Tielemans; Harvey Barnes, Ademola Lookman; Patson Daka.
