Leicester City’s Kasper Schmeichel needs to be succeeded

Even Having the best players available will not make the East Midlanders impenetrable because plenty of the problems start from the back. The club captain, Kasper Schmeichel, needs to be replaced if Brendan Rodgers aspires to make this outfit better.

For a long time, to the naked eye, we have often caught glimpses of Schmeichel’s lack of distribution and questionable movements inside the box in time of oppositional set-pieces. The non-stop sharpness demanded from a Premier League goalkeeper has started to fade away from our captain.

The statistics don’t lie, and judging by the metrics on multiple parameters, the 35 year old Dane doesn’t even come close to any of the top goalkeepers in the league, let alone Europe. Yes, a lack of defenders on duty for cover could contribute to this, but it is clearly not the sole reason for his underwhelming form.

The areas where Schmeichel shone earlier in the season are in shot-stopping. This particular claim can also be diminished- on the pretext that the side was averaging one of the highest shots against them per 90 minutes. Facing more shots would aid in having more saves for any keeper, not exclusively just for Kasper.
