Leicester City’s injury-plagued campaign and list of unavailable personnel finally appears to be easing as only three players remain sidelined.

A vortex of bad news has swirled around on Filbert Way for far too long now. At times it felt like the Foxes faithful were in a parallel universe merely awaiting the next round of negative updates concerning prominent players’ absences. But in actuality, this was our reality as LCFC supporters: injuries upon injuries for well over a year.

However, at last, after reports last month incorrectly stating the list of sidelined personnel had reduced drastically – now it actually has. This season some of the most important Leicester athletes were unavailable on terribly inconvenient occasions or for long-term stretches. Centrebacks Wesley Fofana and Jonny Evans were sorely missed for what seemed like an eternity. Midfield linchpin Wilfred Ndidi remains out; though Papy Mendy is capable, things don’t feel quite the same.

Although, Brendan Rodgers confirmed in his pre-match press conference for the Europa Conference League first leg with Roma that only three senior first team members are currently injured:

"“Thankfully, the injury list is right down. Bouba Soumare will come back into the squad, it’s only Wilf [Ndidi] and Ryan [Bertrand] out. Eldin [Jakupovic] our third goalkeeper is out as well.”"

Leicester City star Ricardo Pereira speaks before Roma match

Ricardo also addressed media at Leicester’s training complex. First of all the Portuguese confirmed the squad are excited for the semifinal opportunity, especially as it is a brand new competition. He adds that the entire squad will fight to get to the final; I find this reassuring as it will be a particularly tough couple of ties for the East Midlands club.

In agreement with my assessment, Ricardo suggests that the Yellows and Reds are an amazing, aggressive side with great players. Additionally, the defender admires Roma gaffer Jose Mourinho, formerly of Chelsea. Furthermore, ‘Ricky P’ believes the Blue Army in attendance can help the team achieve a good result at King Power Stadium in the initial clash.
