An already-relegated side could provide a safe environment for youngsters to taste top-level football, but in actuality, I understood why Rodgers didn’t. A quote from his post-match interview outlined his thinking quite clearly, “I kept [Jamie] Vardy on to see if he could get a hat-trick- but it was not to be!”, giving the aforementioned safe environment to the starting XI, was a chance to play them back into confidence, something that we can all agree is much needed.

It’s a really pivotal point for Leicester City Football Club, they’ve been close to puncturing the elite clubs for numerous years now, but after failing to close seasons out, and now dropping as low as unlikely relegation candidates (or if you look at xPTS—a metric that cross-checks xG [expected goals] vs xGA [expected goals against] for every fixture to determine the outcome—we’d actually be 18th).
