Rodgers reveals where two signings will be made at Leicester
Foxes manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed that two signings will be made at Leicester City this summer. Both are set to be in the same position.
While Leicester supporters eagerly await the proposed summer squad rebuild, rumours are abound in relation to Rodgers’ supposed overhaul. And speculating goes for incoming and outgoing signings; the latest of which appears to be legendary LCFC goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.
That prospective outcome would certainly leave the Blue Army polarised over whether or not the correct decision has been taken. If my opinion matters, I am ready for Schmeichel to move on. With all due respect to the stopper, this view is down to a rather antiquated style: he won’t really claim crosses and isn’t dominant on the dreaded set-pieces, at all. Nor can he distribute as efficiently as other, younger ‘keepers at similar teams.
However, the area that the Northern Irishman in charge is concerned with, is central midfield. And he confirmed the King Power club want to acquire two additions for the role:
"“For sure, that’s an area [midfield] I would say we need at least two.”Leicester Mercury"
Chelsea away up next for Leicester City
Obviously everybody is aware of the particularly strange season the Blues have had to cope with. Former chairman Roman Abramovich was ousted on Fulham Road, and sanctions were placed on the Pensioners by the United Kingdom government.
These restrictions include: not selling matchday tickets, prevention from buying or selling players, along with being unable to offer new contracts. Thomas Tuchel has thereby done a good job, if you ask me.
Form-wise, the West Londoners are struggling: in their last five they lost to Everton and on penalties to Liverpool, drew with Manchester United and Wolverhampton Wanderers. In addition to defeating Championship-threatened Leeds United.
Meanwhile the East Midlands outfit seem to be defying the detractors by not finishing with a whimper. They demolished already-relegated Norwich City as well as Watford most recently. Although, before then, Rodgers’ men had been defeated by Tottenham Hotspur, Roma and the Toffees. A draw between LCFC and CFC feels the natural outcome.
