An almost perfect end to the 2021/22 season for Leicester City after beating Southampton 4-1 on Filbert Way, with goals coming from James Maddison, Jamie Vardy and two for Ayoze Perez. However, Youri Tielemans gave away a penalty in the second half, allowing Southampton to get a goal back through James Ward-Prowse and denying a clean sheet for the Foxes on the final game of the season.

Alan Birchenall’s 40th and final run for Leicester City

I can’t believe today’s game was ‘Birchy’s’ final effort, having seen him running round the pitch for my 16 years of being a Leicester fan, it will feel odd not seeing him on the final matchday anymore. Even the East Midlands side’s chairman Khun Aiyawatt ‘Top’ Srivaddhanaprabha joined in.

Hopefully, this tradition will carry on and someone else will takeover as it’s something unique to our club and as many of us have grown up with the gesture. It would be so strange for the run to no longer continue. Maybe a former player will carry on this tradition, potentially Wes Morgan?

No one has learnt not to sing about Jamie Vardy’s wife

Opposition fans still haven’t learnt from previous occasions, don’t sing about Rebekah Vardy and not expect Vardy to score. I’ll be honest I will never understand it, unless they want him to score, I don’t know the stats of how many times he’s scored since opposition fans have sang about his wife, but I’m pretty sure he’s scored almost every time.
