Leicester City forward Ayoze Perez has provided a significant hint regarding his immediate Foxes future as fans wonder if he’ll be at the King Power club next season.

I like Perez, he is invariably a nice guy. And a likeable one. His temperament is level, and he was admired and celebrated to an extent at St James’ Park when a Newcastle United player. The Toon even once suggested to him via social media that a return could be mutually beneficial. Though that talk died down when they became the richest potential superclub in the world and could thereby attract any talent they desire. Well, they can certainly pay for it.

You see, the Spaniard’s time at King Power Stadium has, so far, been nowhere near as impactful as he would have hoped for. In fact, his transfer – the entire, astounding £30million of it – is known as a ‘flop’ by the majority of LCFC fans I’ve listened to, or viewed tweets from.

Surely even Perez would admit it didn’t work out, if asked candidly, as did former Chelsea midfielder Danny Drinkwater when he left the Blues this past week. Although I am not suggesting the Perez switch was anywhere near as disastrously unwise as the Drinkwater move.

So it appears one potential exit door is closed in Newcastle; unless they want to strengthen their depth with other teams’ peripheral assets. It could happen – unlikely, yet feasible. What is more likely is the East Midlands outfit searching for a suitable side to offload to. Being used as a bargaining chip in future deals is within the realm of possibility for the soon-to-be 29-year-old.

However, Perez has now strongly indicated that he shall indeed be on Filbert Way for 2022/23. Following a fine last showing versus Southampton, when the former Magpie attacker grabbed himself a brace of goals, he gave an interview:
