Leicester set for medical team shakeup after injury nightmare
Leicester City are reportedly going to undergo a significant medical team shakeup, following the injury nightmare suffered over the past couple of years.
In the past season, Leicester suffered prolonged and unprecedented injury problems. Before this, whilst in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Foxes also had issues between 2020-21. Many feel that the sheer amount of sidelined players contributed massively to missing out on Champions League qualification in 2019/20. But certainly in 2020/21.
Anguish began yet continued throughout the recently passed term, with Wesley Fofana’s terrible offseason broken leg. That was down to Villarreal attacker Fer Nino; Nino since apologised to Fofana – but the Blue Army won’t forget. Issues piled up further and the year never really got back on track.
Now, there are no fingers being pointed at the LCFC medical team for the instances, but reports claim the department will be restructured. The Telegraph’s John Percy says the King Power club have agreed compensation to acquire the services of Rangers club doctor, Mark Waller. Waller is well thought of, so this may help to lesser the impact of mounting problems on Filbert Way. This potential appointment is described as a “coup” for Leicester.
Leicester City’s Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall receives European recognition
What a maiden campaign with the Foxes senior side 2021/22 was for the eye-catching Dewsbury-Hall. In fact, even the two accolades he received – Young Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season – only just about do his displays justice.
To become ‘undroppable’ at 23, as a formerly loaned-out academy graduate in your first full season, is almost miraculous. He is often singled out during televised match analysis; and the praise or identification of ‘KDH’s’ talent hasn’t stopped there.
The Nottingham-born man was named in the Europa Conference League Team of the Season. He features alongside well-known former Premier League players Dimitri Payet, Tammy Abraham and Chris Smalling. After solidifying his place in the East Midlands outfit’s eleven, Dewsbury-Hall no doubt has his sights set on an England call-up next.
