Two further senior Leicester City players, both formerly starters, have been informed that they are no longer wanted and may leave the Foxes this summer.

Caglar Soyuncu and Ayoze Perez are solid squad players for Leicester. Though, in truth, the former was once trusted in the Foxes XI – but fell out of favour. And the latter, a transfer gamble with aspirations loftier than the outcome which eventually transpired.

Whether either player will be at King Power Stadium for 2022/23 was in doubt already. Following an apparent recent revelation, it is more unlikely that the pair shall still be at Leicester come next season.

I am particularly surprised at the Turkey international’s decline in recent times: I imagined him a type of leader in the backline for many years to come. I attempted to support the Spaniard’s arrival upon completion of his transfer from Newcastle United. Even though the price felt a high for an unneeded signing.

I cannot see either remaining for longer as fringe assets: Soyuncu has ambition, and Perez could feasible seek minutes at a lesser outfit. So what is next for both men as the market is now open?

Speculation from Daily Mail suggests the defender, along with the attacker, have respectively been told that they can leave the club. This decision would not be made without Rodgers’ input or blessing, naturally.

Hamza Choudhury was another name mentioned as unwanted by the East Midlands outfit; the midfielder is an LCFC academy graduate. Following a poor season – including an overpriced switch from Southampton – Jannik Vestergaard is on the list for the clear out. Joining the Dane is Frenchman Boubakary Soumare.

In addition, the outlet details Youri Tielemans’ announcement that he is content. Yet he will consider his options in the next while. Leicester will also entertain offers for the Belgian as his contract expires in a year. This means by January Tielemans could negotiate a free departure from Filbert Way.
