Watch out for this rising Leicester City star in first team soon
Recently, the retained list came out for all of the Premier League teams. Leicester City offered seven prospects contracts, while also letting go of some of the players. This includes names such as Eldin Jakupovic, Vontae Daley-Campbell, and Jake Wakeling.
One of those players kept made two appearances on the Foxes’ bench last season. He’ll be looking to make a bigger step into the first team this upcoming campaign. Oli Ewing is a rising star to watchout for at Leicester.
Ewing is very young at just 19 years old. Despite being only 19, Ewing played up on LCFC’s U23 team where he bagged two assists in 16 appearances. He has been with the East Midlanders’ youth system since the 2018/2019 season.
However, Ewing is getting more game time than just at Leicester. The Welsh man spent the last season also playing for Wales’s U19 team where he made six appearances.
The youngster is mainly a central midfielder. However, he has also shown the ability to play in attacking midfield and even a defensive central role as well. Ewing would bring versatility and youth to Lecister’s midfield.
This upcoming season he may have the chance to prove himself in the first team. Arsenal signed one of our main midfield targets in Fabio Vieira, it seems unlikely that we will be bringing in Christian Eriksen, and we’re still unsure about the future of Youri Tielemans.
As of right now, there is an opportunity to get some playing time in the midfield. Kieran Dewsbury-Hall took advantage of his opportunity last season and ended up winning Leicster’s young player of the season. Ewing has that type of opportunity this season.
Even as a teenager, Ewing has found himself in a good position. He spent some time as Leicester substitute last season. This season he’ll have the chance to crack into the starting eleven or maybe a super sub. Keep an eye out for Leicester’s rising star.
