Reports have come out that Leicester City is interested in Stade Rennasis’s midfielder Benjamin Bourigeaud. The Foxes want to bring in the 28-year-old for a move around £8 million. According to French Outlet Jeunes Footeux, the player has been ‘closely watched’ by City for ‘several months’. Bourigeaud finished last season with 12 goals and 16 assists throughout all competitions last season. With that being said, here are three things to know about Leicester City’s new transfer target.

Fact one on Leicester City’s wanted man: Bourigeaud scored against us last season

You can do a lot of things to get eyes on you from teams. However, nothing will get you more eyes than scoring against that team. Now, they’ll have to go back home and watch the tape of what you did to that team. That is exactly what happened to LCFC target Bourigeaud.

After losing game one 2-0, Rennes needed a push if they wanted to make it to the next round. Bourigeaud gave them that boost. In game two of the round of 16 play in the conference league, he scored in the eighth minute when he hit a left footed shot to the center of the goal. Rennes would go on to win the game 2-1. However, they would lose on aggregate to Leicester 3-2.

Fact Two: Bourigeaud is coming off his best season yet

You always want to sign a player that is good or great form. The Frenchman is currently in the best form of his life. In 38 League One games last season, he scored 11 goals and assisted 12 of his own. The year previously he had six goals and five assists in 37 League One Apperances. Bourigeaud had only one previous season with over ten goals and that was 2017 where he only followed that with seven assists. Yes, he is a central midfielder, however, he provides so much attacking ability.

Fact Three: Bourigeaud is everything you want from a midfielder

Bourigeaud can do it all out in the midfield. He mainly plays as a central midfielder. Yet, he can still play as an attacking midfielder, defensive midfielder, and even out wide as a left or right midfielder if needed. He can score, pass, and defend. Not even that, his set pieces are fantastic. His free kicks have gotten comparisons to young David Beckham. Also, he is great at whipping in crosses. Bourigeaud is a Swiss Army knife and he would be a fantastic pickup for the foxes.
