And just last season, Albrighton produced the goods in Europe once more, with a thundering strike to give the Foxes the lead in the Conference League against Rennes, which proved pivotal as the Foxes ultimately progressed by a solitary goal.

As one of only two remaining outfield players standing from the title-winning campaign, along with Jamie Vardy, Albrighton finds himself in the unique position of being one of the club’s most successful current players. This transpired without him being one of the first names on the team sheet. Naturally, the more distant a memory that 15/16 season became, a new generation of young talent emerged around him, with the wide man no longer being the future of the club.

Players have come and gone, but Albrighton’s performances have remained at a constant and consistent level, and as the Foxes have finally found a manager who appears to be at the helm for the long term, Brendan Rodgers has identified the winger as an experienced player whose performances he can rely on to produce at least a seven out of ten every time he steps onto the field.

Albrighton knows what it means to overcome the odds, and the pride he takes in putting on that blue shirt is evident in the relentlessness he exudes in his performances. That’s why Marc Albrighton is the new Mr Leicester City.
