Leicester City’s midfield ranks was where many of the talking points came from last season. Damon Carter has much to discuss in appraising these star men.

Leicester City’s Youri Tielemans

Appearances – 49 / Premier League – 32 / FA Cup – 2 / League Cup – 2 / Europe – 13

Goals – 7 / 6 Premier League / 1 FA Cup

Moment to savour – A spectacular goal and performance against Manchester United

Moment to forget – A criminal pass that gifted Tottenham Hotspur a late horror show victory

Firstly lets dispel a myth. Youri Tielemans is not sluggish getting around a football pitch. It’s something that gets thrown at him liberally without much real evidence to back it up. When he first started at the club he struggled to get around the pitch and was regularly hauled off after an hour. But not so these days where he has barely had a break in a relentless season of first-team football, managing just shy of 50 matches and over 4000 minutes of first team football. His work rate is as good as any in the City squad.

‘Starman’ was Leicester’s top Premier League tackler with 74. This can trickle into over-exuberance though and he has the unfortunate honour of being the top player in the whole of the Premier League for conceding penalties. But his season has been one of hits and misses.
