Appearances: 41 / Premier League 26/ Europe 11/ EFL Cup 3/ FA Cup 1

Goals: 7 / Premier League 4 / Europe 1 / EFL Cup 1/ FA Cup 1

Moment to savour: A superb diving header at Old Trafford

Moment to forget: Missing chances to seal an Old Trafford win

Following the end of last season, it seemed that top scorer Iheanacho had a fair shot at being the number one striker at the King Power Stadium. Alas, it never quite happened for the Nigerian and not entirely through elements in his control.

Kelechi can display some unbelievably skilful moments that leave opponents bewildered. His game has certainly come on from simply being a goalscorer. He is a team player that brings others into play and one that likes to create for others. This is reflected in an impressive nine assists this season.

The main issue we have with this talented player is that he isn’t a traditional No.9 and we rarely play with a traditional No.10 where he is arguably best suited. Subsequently, he gets used as a substitute to turn games around or is sacrificed when he starts. But Iheanacho has displayed elements of his previous frustrating self when he is missing chances that he should really be doing better with.

This happened in consecutive games against Manchester United, PSV and Crystal Palace. Each time Daka showed excellent control, poise and skill before lifting tame shots wide of the goal. If any of those chances had gone in, we’d all be drinking in the majesty of some excellent finishes, but he didn’t and strikers are normally only judged by what they do in front of goal.
