Ayoze Perez wants a move and may leave Leicester

Ayoze Perez could leave Leicester City this window, three years after he signed for the club. Lachlan Onions explains.

Sport Witness reports that Perez is interested in a move away from Filbert Way after an inconsistent three years at the club. According to reports, the 28-year-old is on the radar of Real Betis and a move could be possible this window.

Real Betis have added Perez to their target list and may sign him once they sell players of their own. The Spaniard has just one year left on his contract and is willing to depart the club to play in La Liga. Perez has made 100 appearances for the Foxes and has contributed 25 goals. He has found the back of the net 14 times and assisted a further 11 times.

Last season, Perez scored just three goals in all competitions and was on the fringes of the squad as he made just 14 appearances in the league. The former Newcastle forward has struggled to find a consistent role during his Leicester City tenure. When he was first signed, Perez played mainly on the right wing, but was soon deployed as an attacking midfielder as well as a striker.

Throughout his time with the Foxes, the Tenerife youth product showed glimpses of promise, which was highlighted in the famous win over Southampton and Leicester’s UEFA Europe Conference League quarter final triumph. Where Perez was the impact sub to steer the Foxes into the their first European semi-final.

However, his moments were few and far between and his future at the club has been in doubt for some time. A move could be beneficial for both parties as the Foxes need funds to make moves in the transfer market.

Additionally, the Spaniard could get more first-team football if he were to depart the club. LCFC are unlikely to make back the £30million that was spent to bring Perez to the King Power Stadium, however, they should receive enough to begin making moves this window.
