Following the friendly draw with OH Leuven, Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers explained why the Foxes haven’t made any signings this summer.

After making promise-seeming statements confirming incoming transfers in the past, the Northern Irishman had to drastically and almost comically backpedal from the statement. Well, the comedy sketch-like scenario would be funny – in the distinctive yet unaware David Brent-ish style of Rodgers – if acquisitions eventually arise and injudicious speculation emanating from the boss hadn’t occurred.

As it stands, the Foxes faithful are not amused. And a friendly loss to non-league Notts County along with a draw to sister club OH Leuven didn’t help boost the collectively upset or disheartened mood. Rodgers risks disengaging his already diminishing support from youthful fans, many of whom are already hyper-critical.

In fairness to the former Liverpool gaffer, following the OHL practice game he explained the problem with transfers this summer. Although he really had no choice but to do so at this point. Additionally, the 49-year-old clarified that he shall not challenge the chairman for more investment:

"“Clearly, we have to do some business out before we can get players in. We just are not in the same position as some of the other clubs. Until that changes, I keep working with the players we have. We try to maximise their abilities and if the club can do something in the market to help the team, we would want that.“(Selling players) is two-way. Other clubs have to want the players. But it’s also very important that we can’t get too hung up on that.“Of course I want to improve the squad, I want to develop the squad, I said that midway through last year, but if it’s difficult financially, I really respect the club, so I don’t go to war with them.Leicester Mercury"

Leicester City fans meltdown in the heat

Certain Blue Army members on social media are starting to become quite unnecessarily disagreeable with one another. Obviously it is a testing time for the King Power outfit presently. We are all aware that unwanted personnel must be offloaded before new signings can be completed.

We are all frustrated with a lack of movement; imagine working for the East Midlands side at the moment, that can’t be easy. Every post on Twitter is bombarded with moronic ‘just sign someone’ comments’. It’s not like the admin has input in recruitment. These replies to tweets are simply pathetic.

Let’s try to remember that we are all on the same team, especially in wishing the best for LCFC. I plan to digest others’ differing opinions for slightly longer before replying in an attempt to understand the angle, or possibly learn something fresh.
