In the first of two preseason friendlies played on Saturday afternoon half of the Leicester City squad travelled to Pride Park, where goals in the second half from Kelechi Iheanacho, Patson Daka and Callum Wright were enough to see off the fellow midlands Derby County side 3-1.

Leicester City’s Jakub Stolarczyk: 6

The young Polish goalkeeper had truly little to do in this contest in regards of shot-stopping an area in which the player has looked very competent in throughout the preseason. However, he did manage to display this ability and avoid catastrophe in the dying embers of the game, when his complete miss-kick rebounded of his own post, but he was quick enough to scramble across the goal to claw out the resultant shot from the incoming Derby forward.

Timothy Castagne: 8

Playing in a wing-back role, Castagne was excellent making brilliant forward runs allowing play to be opened-up consistently. His passing was crisp and efficient, highlighted by his effortless cut back on the edge of the box for Kelechi Iheanacho for LCFC’s first goal. The games man of the match.

Daniel Amartey: 5

Although there was much danger displayed by Derby throughout, it could be argued that the Ghanian could have closed down the cross for the goal quicker – to be hypercritical – but the defender’s distribution at times was fairly lackadaisical and slow based resulting in slow predictable build up play.
