Leicester City chairman Khun Top Srivaddhanaprabha has made some remarks on potential Foxes transfer business this summer that will encourage the Blue Army.

Believable talk of Financial Fair Play issues and a need to offload large salaries of unwanted personnel have darkened a bright summer on Filbert Way. Possibly as a chain reaction, Leicester’s collectively fully fit athletes have begun to gradually showcase what they can achieve as a team. Or even as two separate sides.

Brendan Rodgers still requires new players on his roster. That is undeniable. Even the Northern Irishman cannot discredit his own recent thoughts on acquiring fresh talent – in spite of his own efforts to do so.

To be fair to Rodgers, and LCFC ownership, their contemporary position with regard to the current transfer window is awkward. Some of that is self-inflicted: bad buys from Southampton and overpaying periphery roles and understudies like Ayoze Perez. Having to sell stars such as James Maddison and Harvey Barnes would surely be detrimental to progression during Rodgers’ tenure.

Yet the affects of covid, the consequent upheaval and an evolving market are consequential. However, Khun Top has now hinted that there is still a possibility of significant moves regarding Leicester before September:

"“Premier League football is one of the focal points for the King Power Group. You may see that the reinforcement is quite slow, this is because the market is changing quite quickly. You have to wait until the end of August. I think there is still time.”"

The East Midlands outfit’s preseason schedule is almost completed now. And it seemed to fly by, as we all gleefully anticipate the new season. Following a fairly inconsequential but surprising defeat to non-league Notts County, Rodgers’ men subsequently drew a maiden friendly versus sister side OH Leuven in Belgium. Next up were Hull City, who were demolished 4-0.

Dual games against Preston North End and Derby County then took place on Saturday afternoon. Leicester won both matches this past weekend as the squad split into two teams. The final ‘showpiece’ practice outing always takes place at King Power Stadium. This offseason LCFC welcome Sevilla on Sunday at 6pm BST.
