Leicester City will host Sevilla tomorrow in the last friendly before the Premier League gets back underway. Despite a lack of changes made to the squad which finished eighth last year, there is much conjecture over what the starting line-up will be in the final preseason run out.

Expected Leicester City XI

With Kasper Schmeichel’s future at the club up in the air, Daniel Iverson will possibly start in between the sticks, as he has done for the majority of preseason. The Foxes will likely field a full-strength side to prepare for the season, so the back four will likely see Wesley Fofana and Jonny Evans starting at centre-back.

James Justin will start at left-back, while Ricardo Pereira will start on the right, although, there is every chance Timothy Castagne could slot into either of those places on the pitch as he has been in solid form this preseason.

However, the Belgian defender has rarely been in action alongside Evans and Fofana this preseason, which means Pereira and Justin are the more likely starting options. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall will once again be the heartbeat of the side in the midfield, but the other positions in the centre of the park remain up in the air.

Despite never-ending links to other clubs, Youri Tielemans is still at the club and if Brendan Rodgers has the Belgian in his plans for this season then he will start alongside Dewsbury-Hall. The final position in the midfield could go two ways; James Maddison could start and play the more advanced number 10 role, or he will start at right wing and either Boubakary Soumare or Dennis Praet will start in the middle.

With Wilfred Ndidi recovering from an injury last season, it seems unlikely that Rodgers will start the Nigerian defensive midfielder, even if he is fit. As Ademola Lookman is no longer at the club and a replacement has yet to be found, Maddison will start at right wing for this game.

This means that either Praet or Soumare will take the final spot in the midfield. Soumare has shown signs of improvement from last season and offers more defensively than Praet, who plays a similar role to Tielemans. Due to his larger defensive presence, the Frenchman will take the final spot in the midfield three, slotting in behind Tielemans and Dewsbury-Hall. Harvey Barnes will start on the left as always and Jamie Vardy will lead the line as he has done for the majority of the last decade.
