Our area is where the Manchester City faithful were sat, and it became known to us that some were rude and at times it even became scary. Supposedly ground security were glad to have the Leicester fans back.

After walking up the concrete steps to our seats, the first thing I noticed was no clap banners. It was a sight to behold! Finally. I’m just hoping that this decision carries on for the season and they don’t make a reappearance for the first game at home to Brentford. After starting to play ‘When You’re Smiling’ towards the end of last term after listening to fans’ gripes – could this finally be the season we wave goodbye to the dreaded clap banners?

I must admit that it felt so nice to hear and see actual applause rather than the annoying folded pieces of cardboard. It also added to the atmosphere of the clash, although there were only 15,000 people in attendance so it wasn’t the loudest. Although if it sounded decent at a friendly – imagine how good it could be with a full stadium using their hands rather than the clap banners. However, I don’t want to get my hopes up too much, and suppose we’ll find out what the fate of the clappers really is next Sunday.
