Brendan Rodgers issues transfer stance on Wesley Fofana
Leicester City head coach Brendan Rodgers has commented on the King Power club’s stance on the transfer of Wesley Fofana. Here is an update.
The French defender is truly a wonderkid. ‘Little Wes’ has only been at Leicester for two seasons, and yet he feels a part of the furniture. A starter for sure, and one of the best defensive talents in the Premier League.
However, with this star-studded worth comes transfer speculation. These stories are incessant, frustrating, and honestly very disrespectful to the Foxes. Furthering this are recent worrying activity from the player himself.
Leicester City boss responds
Despite rumoured bids from Chelsea, the Northern Irish gaffer has been clear on his stance regarding the player. In an interview with Owynn Palmer-Atkin – via his Twitter – Rodgers stated the player is “not for sale. End of”.
With not long to go before the 2022/23 season commences, and no incoming transfer business completed, it seems illogical to conclude Leicester would possibly lose two integral players. There is already the news that Kasper Schmeichel is leaving before the Brentford opener: the likelihood of losing another before an incoming is rather diminished.
Fofana is not going to be going without some major financial renumeration and probably player swapping to convince Rodgers he can continue to compete with this side. At the end of the day, even without Schmeichel, the King Power club have a dangerous side. Minus Little West and the odds of competing fall exponentially.
Unless we already have a replacement in the works, there is no chance City will sanction the loss of the French wonderkid. Sorry to burst the hype, but the defender will be here for the 22/23 window.
Rodgers will never allow the club to sanction a transfer away. Nor do I believe Fofana wants to leave. Little Wes is our best defender, a wonderkid, and truly a special person. He should always have our support.
